“Open to the Public” Department sponsored fishing programs will have Sport Fishing Instructors available to provide instructions and answer your questions about fishing. The Department will also have available for loan to the public, on a first come first serve basis, 100 rods and reels and a limited supply of bait.

Fishing Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Program dates and times are subject to change. Participants 14 years and older may fish without a State or Urban fishing license between sanctioned fishing clinic hours, as long as they register at the Arizona Game and Fish booth, located at the fishing clinic site. All participants wanting to fish before or after sanctioned fishing clinic hours, must be lawfully licensed, with the exception of blind residents and juveniles under 14 years of age (who do not need a license).

Schedule -"OPEN TO THE PUBLIC" FISHING PROGRAMS

                                                 Updated: August 27, 2008

When: We are in the process of adding newly scheduled programs and they will be posted soon.  Please check back soon.
Where: Soon to be updated.
Comments: LAST STOCKING OF SPRING CATFISH SEASON JUNE 23-28
The last of eight, every-other-week spring catfish stockings will take place the week of June 23-28.  With lake temperatures climbing rapidly towards 90 degrees and air temperatures well above 100, it becomes impractical to haul live fish into Arizona’s Urban lakes.  No fish stockings will be scheduled during July, August and the first half of September.  Fall catfish stockings will resume in mid-September after lake and weather conditions improve enough to safely transport and stock catfish once again.  Anglers can still fish for catfish, bass and bluegill at Urban waters throughout the summer, but the action is generally slower.
Contact: If you represent a club, organization or governmental agency that would like to cooperatively conduct an "Open to the Public" fishing program in your community, please  contact Doug Thornburg, Sport Fishing Education Coordinator by calling (602) 623-236-7240 or email him at dthornburg@azgfd.gov..
