Free Shooting Seminars

Are you interested in learning about shotgun, handgun or rifle shooting but don’t know where to start?

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is partnering with the National Shooting Sports Foundation to offer FREE introductory classes on shotgun, handgun and rifle shooting. Each class includes instruction in firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, information on shooting sports opportunities, and the opportunity for hands-on shooting in a safe environment supervised by qualified instructors.

Dates for upcoming First Shots classes to be announced soon.

Classes will be held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility and other various locations. The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is located at 4044 W. Black Canyon Blv. in Phoenix. For more information about the First Shots Program and upcoming dates, visit the First Shots Web site at firstshots.org or contact AZGFD HRR coordinator for details and dates at 623 236-7567.

The goal of the First Shots program is to reach individuals that are interested in an entry level firearms program that provides a foundation in firearms safety, handling, and basic form.  First Shots programs are traditionally implemented as a one-time event lasting approximately four hours.  First Shots 2nd Round programs are offered as a one time follow up to the First First ShotsShots Program.  Second Shots gives an opportunity to have a more hands on experience on the range in a slightly more competitive, yet fun environment.
