Thirteen Heritage Grant Workshops were held in seven cities during August 2006. Thirty-seven applications were received by the November 30th deadline.

Environmental Education received six applications. The amount available is $ 32,000.00. The following four education programs are awarded 2006-2007 E.E. grants.

  • E08001- Pima County, for the project “INVADERS of the Sonoran Desert Region:High School Citizen Scientists.” The award is in the amount of   $9,996.00.

  • E08002- Pima County, for the project “Sonoran Sea Aquarium Education and outreach School Programs and Field Studies.”  The award is in the amount of $9,540.00.

  • E08003- Altar Valley Unified School District, for the project “Curriculum Development to Support Tortoise Habitat and Native Plant Garden.”  The award is in the amount of      $7,500.00.

  • E08006- Grand Canyon Unified School District, for the project “Grand Canyon Outdoor Classroom.”  The award is in the amount of $4,964.00.

Schoolyard Habitat received seven applications. The amount available is $ 37,500.00. The following three schools are awarded 2006-2007 Schoolyard grants.

  • S08001- Apache Junction Unified School District, for the project “Peralta Trail Nature Reserve and Education Center.”  The award is in the amount of $9,720.00.

  • S08004- Kyrene School District, for the project “Kyrene De La Esperanza Elementary School Heritage Discovery Habitat.” The award is in the amount of $9,850.00.

  • S08005- Tucson Unified School District, for the project “Children Conserving Creatures Pollination Garden and Wildlife Area.” The award is in the amount of $7,271.00.

Urban received eleven applications. The amount available is $112,500.00. The following five agencies are awarded 2006-2007 Urban grants.

  • U08001- Pima County, for the project “Living With Wildlife Educational Display Trailer.”The award is in the amount of  $23,150.00.

  • U08005- Northern Arizona University, for the project “Bats and the Wildland Urban Interface.”The award is in the amount of  $48,465.00.

  • U08008- National Park Service, for the project “Desert Tortoise Education and Outreach Program.”The award is in the amount of  $7,114.00.

  • U08009- Maricopa County, for the project “Pemberton Pond Blind.”The award is in the amount of  $1,462.00

  • U08011- City of Flagstaff, for the project “Frances Short Pond Enhancements Phase III.”The award is in the amount of  $29,543.00.

Public Access received zero applications. The amount available is $ 50,000. 

IIAPM received thirteen applications. The amount available is $320,000.00. The following seven agencies are awarded 2006-2007 IIAPM grants.

  • I08001- Northern Arizona University, for the project “Bat Roosts Phase II.” The award is in the amount of  $13,138.00.

  • I08002- Northern Arizona University, for the project “Population Status and Population Genetics of Leopard Frogs in Northern Arizona.” The award is in the amount of  $39,861.00.

  • I08003- Virginia State University, for the project “Demography of the Mexican Garter Snake.” The award is in the amount of  $29,320.00.

  • I08005- University of Arizona, for the project “Population Impacts on the Narrow Headed Garter Snakes.”The award is in the amount of  $76,535.00.

  • I08010- University of Arizona, for the project “Migration Pattern and Population Genetics Structure of the Lesser Long Nosed Bat.”The award is in the amount of $36,166.00.

  • I08011- Arizona State University, for the project “Narrow-Headed Garter Snake Population Genetics.”The award is in the amount of  $ 30,000.00.

  • I08013- Bureau of Land Management, for the project “South Mitty Restoration.”The award is in the amount of  $ 45,205.00.
