Twelve Heritage Grant Workshops were held in seven cities during August 2008.
Forty-two applications were received by the November 30th deadline.
Environmental Education received seven applications. The amount available is $32,000.00. The following three education programs are awarded 2009 E.E. grants.
- E10002- Arizona Agribusiness & Equine Center, for the project “Chiracauan Leopard Frog Stabilization Project.” The award is in the amount of $10,000.00.
- E10003- Northern Arizona University, for the project “Native American Students Studying Avian Wildlife.” The award is in the amount of $9,571.00.
- E10007- Arizona State University, for the project “Cheery, A Frog's Tale.” The award is in the amount of $8,148.00.
Schoolyard Habitat received five applications. The amount available is $37,500.00. The following two schools are awarded 2009 Schoolyard grants.
- S10001- Tucson Unified School District, for the project “Bell Wildlife Habitat Enhancement.” The award is in the amount of $10,000.00.
- S10002- Kyrene School District, for the project “Colina Wildlife Discovery Habitat.” The award is in the amount of $10,000.00.
- S10003 - Flagstaff Unified School District, for the project “Marshall Magnet School Water Conservation Habitat Garden.” The award is in the amount of $ 9,195.00.
Urban received ten applications. The amount available is $112,500.00. The following five agencies are awarded 2009 Urban grants.
- U10002- Northern Arizona University, for the project “Bats and the Wildland Urban Interface, Phase II.”The award is in the amount of $44,406.00.
- U10003- USDA Forest Service, for the project “Sabino Canyon Lizard Watching.”The award is in the amount of $8,190.00.
- U10006- USDA Forest Service, for the project “Interpretive Signs at Brown Canyon Ranch.” The award is in the amount of $5,500.00.
- U10008- University of Arizona, for the project “Land Use and Wildlife at the Urban Fringe: Integrating Ecological Research, Public Perceptions and Conservations Planning.”The award is in the amount of $43,375.00.
- U10010- University of Arizona, for the project “Urban Bobcats and Mountain Lions: Public Outreach, Education and Docent Program.”The award is in the amount of $11,029.00.
Public Access received two applications. The amount available is $50,000. The following agency is awarded a 2009 Public Access grant.
- P10001- USDA Forest Service, for the project “Galiuro Mountain Range Improved Hunting Access.”The award is in the amount of $ 50,000.00.
IIAPM received eighteen applications. The amount available is $320,000.00. The following five agencies are awarded 2009 IIAPM grants.
- I10001- USDA Forest Service, for the project “Scotia Canyon Bullfrog Eradication.” The award is in the amount of $49,774.00.
- I10004- Research Foundation, State University of New York, for the project “Novel Survey Methods to Increase detectability of rare frogs in the field.” The award is in the amount of $46,948.00.
- I10006- Northern Arizona University, for the project “Inventory and Development of a long term monitoring program for Arizona Riparian Raptors.” The award is in the amount of $63,141.00.
- I10010- University of Arizona, for the project “Impact of introduced Aberts squirrels on endangered Mt. Graham red squirrels: removal experiments as an assessment and management tool.”The award is in the amount of $78,857.00.
- I10018- Arizona State University, for the project “Aquatic Environment and the Persistence of the Frog Killing Fungus”The award is in the amount of $81,280.00.
