2016 Governor’s Commission Board Activity
Per Arizona State Statute 17-202 (became effective on July 2010), the Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board shall assist the governor by interviewing, evaluating and recommending candidates for appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. The Commission Appointment Recommendation Board shall recommend at least two, but no more than five, candidates to the governor. The governor must select and appoint a commissioner from the list submitted by the board.
Members of the Commission Appointment Recommendation Board are William “Jim” Lane (chair), Susan E. Chilton, Charles I. Kelly, Phillip D. Townsend, and Richard B. Williams.
Commission Appointment Recommendation Board to Interview 6 Candidates on Nov. 9 (posted Oct. 26, 2016)
On Oct. 25, 2016, the Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board held a public meeting at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters. The board reviewed a list of applicants for the Governor’s appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission and elected to invite six of the candidates for interviews at the board’s public meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters, 5000 West Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85086.
The applicants who will be interviewed are: Kurt R. Davis, Jonathan D. Hanna, Michael B. Ivor, George J. Rivosecchi, Richard Searle, and James H. Unmacht II.
Commission Appointment Recommendation Board to Meet Oct. 25 (posted Oct. 17, 2016)
PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2015, beginning at 9 a.m., to review and select for interview applicants for the upcoming (2017) vacancy on the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. The meeting will be held at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters at 5000 W. Carefree Highway in Phoenix and is open to the public.
The board is scheduled to meet again on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, beginning at 9 a.m., to conduct interviews with the candidates who were selected at the Oct. 25 meeting. That meeting will also be at 5000 W. Carefree Highway in Phoenix and is open to the public.

PHOENIX — The Governor’s Office is currently accepting applications for the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Applications must be received or postmarked no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016. Applications received or postmarked after the deadline will not be considered.
Governor Doug Ducey is seeking members who are well-informed and passionate about Arizona wildlife and its long-term conservation. In accordance with Arizona law, the Game and Fish Commission is required to be politically balanced and representative of all 15 counties (i.e., no more than three commissioners may be from the same political party, and no two commissioners may be residents of the same county). Therefore, this Commission vacancy is NOT available to registered residents of Apache, Coconino, Pima, or Yuma counties. Residents of all other counties – Cochise, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Santa Cruz and Yavapai – are eligible and encouraged to apply.
