PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) will host a public forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, to provide an update on the master plan for the Ben Avery Shooting Facility (BASF).

The event will be conducted at AZGFD headquarters (Quail Room), 5000 W. Carefree Highway, in Phoenix. The public also can view a live webcast at www.azgfd.gov/webcast. For those who miss the webcast, it will be recorded and made available at www.azgfd.gov/webcast

Public comments can be emailed to BASFRPRCustomerService@azgfd.gov following the presentation. The deadline for AZGFD to receive those comments is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18.

The BASF master plan was developed in 2007 to identify and establish short- and long-term objectives for the 1,650-acre facility in north Phoenix. The process included input from the public, user groups and AZGFD staff through workshops and focus groups.

AZGFD will be updating the BASF master plan and presenting it to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission at its public meeting Jan. 20 in Phoenix. The public forum will provide an opportunity to view the updated master plan and offer feedback before the Commission meeting.
