Golden Algae continues to bloom at several lakes

Bad news again for Riverview Lake – another active bloom of golden algae has been detected, and Tempe Town Lake, Alvord Lake and Cortez Lake have also been experiencing algae blooms. The cities of Mesa and Phoenix are working with their lake consultants to address these expensive algae treatments, so that means stockings at these lakes are suspended until further notice. We’ll notify the public once treatments have been completed and follow up testing shows golden algae is no longer present, then fish stocking can resume.

Trout stockings winding down, catfish coming in March

There is only one stocking of winter trout left in the CFP waters in the Tucson and Phoenix areas which means catfish stockings are just around the corner! The week of March 5-10 is the final two week for trout stockings for the metro areas. Catfish stockings are scheduled to begin the week of March 19-24. For more details check out the online stocking schedule. The schedule is also posted inside the information cabinets at all CFP waters.
