SUMMARY:Just For Educators: The Science of Turkeys Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering a hands-on workshop for educators focused on Gould’s turkeys\, one of the state’s two native turkey species. Once eliminated from Arizona’s mountains\, Gould’s turkeys have been successfully restored to parts of their former range through ongoing conservation efforts. \nIn this immersive professional development experience\, participants will join Department biologists in the field to conduct a turkey survey in the Santa Rita Mountains. Educators will gain firsthand insight into turkey research and management while exploring ways to bring wildlife conservation into the classroom. The workshop includes classroom-ready activities\, resources\, and teaching strategies designed to engage students in real-world science. \nSaturday\, April 12\, 2025\n1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nSunday\, April 13\, 2025\n5:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. \nParticipants will receive numerous resources and a certificate for at least 6 hours of professional development credit. \nRegister here for this two-day in-person professional development workshop. The fee is $10 per person.
