Family Fishing Events

During Arizona Game and Fish Department free fishing clinics, loaner rods are provided, bait is free, and no license is required to those who register during event hours.

Unplug kids and get them hooked on fishing!

Saturday, Jan. 27

Family Fishing Day. 8 a.m. – noon. Red Mountain Lake 7745 E. Brown Rd. Mesa, Ariz.

Details: Come out and enjoy some family fun with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and Mesa Parks and Recreation. The Sport Fishing Education program staff and volunteer instructors will be providing free fishing for everyone who signs in at the Game and Fish booth during event hours. Bait and loaner equipment will be available. This event is free of charge and open to all ages. Hope to see you there!

Saturday, Feb. 10

Take a Kid Fishing Day. 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. La Paz County Park 7350 Riverside Dr. Parker, Ariz., 85344

Details: This is the 39th Annual Take a Fishing Day celebration and is a community partnership event between the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Take a Kid Fishing Organization, and the City of Parker. This event is for beginning and experienced anglers. Loaner rods are available for use, or feel free to bring your own. Bait will be provided and you do not need to possess a fishing license to participate. The cost of the event is free. Bring your family out and join the fun.

Just for Kids Fishing Festival. 8 a.m. – noon. Take a Kid Fishing Day. Kiwanis Park 5500 S. Mill Ave. Tempe, AZ 85283

Details: This is the 27th Annual Just for Kids Fishing Festival celebration and is a community partnership event between the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Anglers United, and the City of Tempe. This event is for beginning and experienced anglers. The AZGFD Sport Fishing Education program staff and volunteer instructors will be providing free fishing for everyone who signs in at the Game and Fish booth during event hours. Family and Community Fishing Event. 8 a.m. – noon. Roper Lake State Park 101 E. Roper Lake Rd. Safford, Ariz. 85546

Details: The Arizona Game and Fish will be working with Roper Lake State Park to provide a day of free, family fishing and fun. This event is for beginning and experienced anglers. Loaner rods are available for use, or feel free to bring your own. Bait will be provided and during the hours of the event, you do not need to possess a fishing license to participate. The cost of the event is free for those who sign in at the Game and Fish booth. Bring your family out and join the fun.

Details: The Arizona Game and Fish will be working with the City of Phoenix and the Phoenix Police Department to provide a morning of free, family and community fishing and fun. Game and Fish staff from the Sport Fishing Education Program and volunteer instructors will be on hand to provide tips on fishing and answer your angling questions. Bring your own equipment or there will be loaner rods available. Participants, who register at the Game and Fish booth, will be provided bait and will not need a fishing license during the hours of the event.

Youth Fishing Day. 8 a.m. – noon. Bonsall Pond 5840 W. Bethany Home Rd., Glendale, Ariz. 85301.

Details: The Arizona Game and Fish will be working with the City of Glendale to provide a day of free, family fishing and fun. Game and Fish staff from the Sport Fishing Education Program and Certified Angler volunteer instructors will be on hand to provide tips on fishing and answer your angling questions. Bring your own equipment or there will be loaner rods available on a first-come, first serve basis. Participants, who register at the Game and Fish booth, will be provided bait and will not need a fishing license during the hours of the event.

Free Fishing Day! 8 a.m. – noon. Goldwater Lake, 2900 S. Goldwater Lake Rd. Prescott, Ariz., 86303

Details: As part of the National Free Fishing Day, the Arizona Game and Fish Department is planning a day of free fishing for the whole family. The Arizona Game & Fish Department Sport Fishing Education Program staff and volunteer instructors will be on hand to assist anglers. Bait will be provided and loaner rods will be available for those participants who sign in at the Game and Fish booth. This is a great time to bring the kids out for a nice day of fishing.

National Get Outdoors Day. 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Parker Canyon Lake Off of AZ-83, Cochise County, Ariz., 85611

Details: National Get Outdoors Day is a chance for families to experience a variety of outdoor recreation activities. As part of the National Get Outdoors Day, the Arizona Game and Fish Department is planning a morning of free fishing for the whole family. The AZGFD Sport Fishing Education Program staff and volunteer instructors will be on hand to assist anglers. Bait and loaner rods will be available for participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. The event is free and no fishing licenses are required during the planned hours of the event, for those who register at the Game & Fish booth. This is a great time to bring the kids out for a nice day of fishing!
