PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering a unique opportunity for adult hunters looking to complete the field test portion of the Arizona Hunter Education Program’s requirement to earn a bonus point.
A total of 13 field test sessions are reserved for March 30-31 during the department’s Outdoor Expo at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility, 4044 W. Black Canyon Blvd., Phoenix. Admission and parking are free. Students should report to the Arizona Hunter Education Program booth in the Family Adventure Area.
To register for a field test session, visit https://www.register-ed.com/programs/arizona/143-arizona-bonus-point-field-day.
The field test is for adults 18 and older who have successfully completed the online course and have three years of hunting experience. Once a passing score of 80 percent is obtained on the course examination, a completion certificate may be printed and a field test scheduled.
All field tests are administered by certified department volunteer instructors. Students rotate through practical application stations at their pace. The stations include live-fire, matching, practical hunt and a written examination. The average completion time is one hour. There is no instruction provided during a field test.
A bonus point, by definition, is an accumulated credit that authorizes the department to issue a big game drawing applicant additional computer-generated random numbers during a draw.
