Second Knoll Target Range shuts down due to forest closure

Posted June 23, 2021

SHOW LOW, Ariz. — The Second Knoll Target Range will be closed indefinitely due to fire danger, dry conditions and persistent wildfire activity that have forced a full closure of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.

The forest will close at 6 a.m. Thursday, June 24. The closure order is in effect until Sept. 1, unless rescinded earlier.

Second Knoll, located about six miles east of Show Low, sits on Forest Service land where the Arizona Game and Fish Commission holds a special-use permit for a target range. The range is maintained and operated by the White Mountain Shooters Association.
