FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) is seeking information about two yearling bull elk killed near Flagstaff during the weekend of March 14-15 in Unit 11M near Forest Roads 714 and 714C, 2.5 miles northeast of Mountainaire and 2 miles west of Lower Lake Mary.
One animal had some, but not all, of the meat harvested, while the other was left entirely to waste. Due to the area’s proximity to town, it is frequented by residents, hikers, and mountain bikers.
“If anyone has information regarding this illegal and wasteful act, please report it,” said Wildlife Manager Eddie Cini. “Poachers are thieves who steal Arizona’s most precious natural resource. If you have any information, including possible vehicles involved or people of interest, please come forward and help us bring those responsible to justice.”
Anyone with information about this case can call the AZGFD’s Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-352-0700 and refer to case #26-000624.
Callers can remain anonymous upon request and may be eligible for a reward up to $3,500 for information that leads to an arrest in this case through the Arizona Elk Society and Operation Game Thief program.
