How Wildlife Conservation is Funded

As the state’s wildlife agency, the Arizona Game and Fish Department works to conserve and protect Arizona’s 800+ wildlife species. Most of our funding comes from public spending on things like fishing and hunting licenses, tags or stamps, and via a federal excise tax on firearms and ammunition.

Unfortunately, those funds alone can’t support all of the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s wildlife conservation work. We rely on donors, too.

Because the Arizona Game and Fish Department is self-funded, every donation makes a difference for wildlife conservation. Depending on their goals, donors can give to the Arizona Game and Fish Department directly, or through Wildlife for Tomorrow.

More Ways to Support Wildlife

Established to support the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s mission, as a 501(c)3 Wildlife for Tomorrow provides donors an opportunity to contribute to wildlife conservation in ways that are fully tax-deductible and tailored to their conservation goals.

Donors who give through Wildlife for Tomorrow can:

  • Make a tax-deductible gift to support the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s programs
  • Create a donor-restricted fund for a specific cause
  • Leave a planned or legacy gift to support Arizona’s wildlife and outdoor heritage for generations

Leave a Lasting Legacy for Arizona’s Wildlife

Donors can make a difference by including Wildlife for Tomorrow in their estate plans. Legacy gifts are fully tax-deductible and directly support the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s mission.

Examples of legacy giving include bequests in a will or trust, beneficiary designations (e.g. retirement accounts or life insurance policies), charitable trusts, and donor-restricted endowments.
