Assisting the Governor in Appointment Recommendation of Candidates for the AZGFD Commission
Per Arizona State Statute 17-202 (effective July 2010), the Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board shall assist the governor by interviewing, evaluating and recommending candidates for appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. The Commission Appointment Recommendation Board shall recommend at least two, but no more than five, candidates to the governor. The governor must select and appoint a commissioner from the list submitted by the board.
Members of the Commission Appointment Recommendation Board are Charles Ireland Kelly (chair), Susan E. Chilton, Edward P. Madden, Phillip D. Townsend, and Richard B. Williams.

Nov. 2, 2022 — The Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board forwarded to the Office of Gov. Doug Ducey the names of three candidates for consideration in making the 2023 appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Alan Baker of Pearce, Jeffrey Buchanan of Patagonia, and Jessica Manuell of Parks were selected from four candidates interviewed by the board at its public meeting on Nov. 2 at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters in Phoenix.

Nov. 10, 2020 — The Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board forwarded the names of three candidates to Gov. Doug Ducey for consideration in making his 2021 appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Daniel W. Caputo of Flagstaff, Clay Hernandez of Tucson, and Kate Scott of Elgin were interviewed by the board at its public meeting on Nov. 10 at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters in Phoenix. They had been selected for interview from an initial slate of five applicants considered by the board at its Oct. 20 public meeting.

Doug Ducey for his consideration in making his 2019 appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. James E. Goughnour of Payson and Patrick W. Headington of Yuma were selected from three candidates who were interviewed by the board at its public meeting on Nov. 13 at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters in Phoenix. The three who were interviewed were chosen from an initial slate of eight applicants considered by the Appointment Recommendation Board at its Oct. 23 public meeting.

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, beginning at 9 a.m., to review and select for interview applicants for the 2019 vacancy on the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. The meeting will be held at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters at 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Quail Room, in Phoenix and is open to the public.
