Avian Flight
In this activity, students will read about the different types of flight and adaptations that birds have to fly.
By completing this lesson, your students will be able to:
- Obtain and evaluate information from a nonfiction text about the basic physics of flight.
- Identify the four different types of flights.
- Create a flipbook showing a bird in flight and how the wings move.

They have been aligned to the Arizona academic science standards and can be used to promote three dimensional teaching.
In this activity, students will read a passage about how birds fly. Then, they will have the opportunity to make their own flip book which will animal bird wing flapping and allow them to observe it up close.
