In this activity, students will read about the life cycle of aquatic insects and learn about metamorphosis.
By completing this lesson, your students will be able to:
- Obtain and evaluate information from a nonfiction text about metamorphosis and life cycles.
- Match the larva to the adult of different aquatic insects.
- Explain the difference between simple and complete metamorphosis.

Each activity includes a two page printable student worksheet and a page of teacher instructions. They have been aligned to the Arizona academic science standards and can be used to promote three dimensional teaching.
In this activity, students will read an article about a specific group of aquatic insects known as caddisflies. Using information from the text as well as their own research, they must then try to match the larva or nymph from various aquatic insects to their adult stage.
