Wildfires and Wildlife
In this activity, students will read about the role of wildfires on a forest ecosystem.

- Obtain and evaluate information from a nonfiction text about wildfires.
- Research an historic fire in Arizona.
- Complete a crossword puzzle based on new knowledge gained from reading.

Wild Kids is a collection of simple activities that can be used to introduce students to different wildlife and life science concepts. Each activity includes a two page printable student worksheet and a page of teacher instructions. They have been aligned to the Arizona academic science standards and can be used to promote three dimensional teaching.
In this activity, students will read a passage about wildfires and their impact on wildlife. Then, students will complete a crossword puzzle to assess their understanding of the article. Finally, students will research a major fire in Arizona’s history and share their knowledge.
