Frequently Asked Questions
How does the public main range range work?
We currently have 67 shooting tables available with two shooting positions at each table. Every 15 minutes, a cease-fire will be called. Firearms will be cleared by range staff and shooters will have the opportunity to walk downrange to set up, change or remove targets. Once everyone is back from downrange, a live fire period will begin again.
Are there classes?
We offer Annie Oakley and Wild Bunch classes, as well as rifle optics and long-range shooting classes. See the events calendar for dates and registration.
Can I draw from the holster?
As long as you carry your firearm outside your waistband on your strong side, you may draw from the holster.
Do you close the public main range during large events?
No. All other events are scheduled on other ranges. The Main Range is a public range, so it does not close during events. Normal operating hours remain unchanged throughout all events.
It is my first time visiting the range. Is there anything I should do before I come?
Have everyone in your party watch our five-minute safety video, including reading the range-specific rules. Reservations are recommended for weekends but not required for weekdays.
Are eye and ear protection required?
Yes. Plugs are sufficient for hearing protection. Eye protection must be worn by shooters and spectators while on the public main range. Sunglasses and prescription eyewear are acceptable substitutes.
Can I bring food or drink to the range?
We do not allow food inside the public main range. Resealable drinks are permitted. Picnic tables are available for public use outside the firing line.
Do you rent firearms or sell ammunition?
We do not rent firearms or sell ammunition. Please bring the correct ammunition for your firearms.
How can I use the other ranges?
Public shooting is available at the public main range. You may contact a club that uses the range you are interested in to inquire about shooting opportunities.
Do you sell spent brass?
No.
Where do I check in if I have a reservation?
If you have a reservation, you should check in at the range where your reservation was made. Signs are posted to guide you. You do not need to check in at the Store and Operations Center unless you do not have a reservation.
Do my firearms need to be in a case?
Yes. All firearms must be transported in cases. We require all firearms to be cased or, in the case of pistols, holstered firearms are allowed on the range as long as they are worn on a belt on the shooter’s strong side. Hand-carried holstered firearms are not permitted on the range, nor are cross-draw, small-of-back or shoulder holsters.
I am bringing a large group of friends. Can I use several tables?
We do our best to accommodate large groups. We currently only allow 4 people per table. You would have to make a reservation accommodating your group size.
Can you sight in my hunting rifle?
Sight-in services are contingent upon staff availability. Please call 623-582-8313 in the morning to confirm availability for sight-in services.
Do you offer refunds?
Reservation refunds are only available for cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance. To request a refund, please call 623-582-8313 or email us with your order number.
