Collaboration with Mother Road Brewing Company
The Arizona Game and Fish Department has teamed up with Mother Road Brewing Company for a delicious way to support our on-the-ground conservation work.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department has teamed up with Flagstaff-based Mother Road Brewing Company for a delicious way to support wildlife. For every sale of Conserve and Protect Golden Ale in cans and on tap, Mother Road donates a portion of the proceeds to AZGFD to support its on-the-ground wildlife conservation work. Conserve and Protect Golden Ale can be found at most grocery and beverage stores, including select Safeway and Albertsons locations.
going strong since 2019
In 2019, Mother Road Brewing Company produced a limited release of Conserve & Protect Kölsch cans to raise funds for AZGFD’s on-the-ground efforts. Today, Kölsch has been replaced with Conserve and Protect Golden Ale.
The collaboration is going strong with more than $38,000 in donations raised to date. These funds directly support Arizona’s 800+ species of wildlife and AZGFD biologists working in the field.
Supporting on-the-ground conservation
This year, Mother Road’s donations will help support a captive breeding program and release of cactus ferruginous pygmy owls in southern Arizona.
In 2020, donations helped support population surveys of Sonoran desert tortoises and endangered Mount Graham red squirrels. During the tortoise surveys, AZGFD found the largest-known wild Sonoran desert tortoise on record and Female #1, who was first identified in 1988. During the squirrel surveys, biologists estimated at least 109 squirrels. This is the first time the population has returned to the triple digits since its habitat was nearly wiped out by the 2017 Frye Fire.
